The Municipal Television of the City of Thessaloniki (TV100), decided to commission a series of four short documentaries on four individual “portraits” of refugees residing in camps in the surroundings of Thessaloniki. “My name is not Refugee” has no other pretension than to present their “truth” in their new condition. In doing so, the producers tried to involve as much as possible the refugees in the process (scenario, filming etc), handing them the widest possible ownership of the storytelling.

Difficulties relating to casting, translation and access in the camps were surmounted thanks to the close collaboration with “Doctors of the World” (both Greek and Belgian Chapters).

In this episode of “My name is not Refugee”, Mohammed Obada, a former driver from the Aleppo region, holds the camera while offering a guided tour in his “new home” and recalls how his two year old son, along with his eldest brother got separated from the rest of the family for nearly ten days in opposite sides of the Turkish-Syrian border.
